Evan Mascagni is a Kentucky-based filmmaker. His latest documentary, Cornbread Mafia, premiered at SXSW 2026 in collaboration with Rough House Pictures. His previous film, Building a Bridge, premiered at the Tribeca Festival and was executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

Named to DOC NYC 40 Under 40 Emerging Filmmakers, Evan’s work has been featured on Sundance TV, AMC+, Apple TV+, and PBS, with coverage in Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, and The Washington Post. His work has been supported by Film Independent, ITVS, The Redford Center, and Perspective Fund.

He founded Slaughterhouse 502, a Louisville-based production company, mentors young filmmakers through BYkids, and co-founded the Southern Documentary Chapter of the collective Filmshop.

    • A car mechanic with a PhD from Berkeley opens a mutual aid car repair shop in Prattville, Alabama to counteract the systemic failure of Alabama's car culture. World Premiere at the 2024 Sidewalk Film Festival.
